Comhdháil is invloved in important development work at a local, regional, national and transnational level through the various programmes we administer.
Comhdháil manages and administers the National Rural Development Programme (NDRP) for the islands. This programme is essentially a funder of last resort under which projects and initiatives which do not qualify for funding from state agencies may be supported. Support is given under the following headings:
- Analysis and Development
- Innovative rural enterprises, craft enterprises and local services/facilities
- Exploitation of agriculture, forestry and fisheries products
- Enhancement of natural/built/social/cultural environment
- Environmentally friendly initiatives
- Animation and capacity building
- Rural/Agri Tourism

Rural Social Scheme
Comhdháil also administers the Rural Social Scheme (RSS) for the islands. There are currently 17 people employed by Comhdháil under this scheme, which is aimed at providing support for farmers and those involved in fishing, or their families, who meet the eligibility criteria.
